Cultural Heritage without Borders, CHwB, is Swedish Non-governmental organization working to preserve cultural monuments endangered in various ways.The Organization was founded in April, 1995, in the spirit of the Hague Convention from 1954 to lend international support to cultural heritage at risk of being destroyed whether as a result of natural disasters, war or neglect because of poverty or political and social conditions.The Founders of CHwB are leading representatives from the areas of politics, culture, the arts, as well as academics and professionals in the field of cultural heritage. The committee of CHwB consists of nine members. Six of them are appointed by the National Heritage Board, the Swedish Association of Architects, the ICOMOS and the ICOM, and other three are appointed by the committee itself.

AMIR to go dark I/18/2012
AMIR will join the Internet Archive, Wikipedia and others in going dark January 18th in protest against proposed legislation in the United States — the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) in the U.S. House of Representatives, and the PROTECT IP Act (PIPA) in the U.S. Senate.
You can read a very good list of reasons to oppose SOPA and PIPA here, from the Electronic Frontier Foundation.

Diarna is an initiative of Digital Heritage Mapping, a 501c3 non-profit organization using technology to map and preserve cultural heritage sites around the world. “Diarna” means “our homes” in Judeo-Arabic, a version of Arabic mixed with Hebrew spoken by Jews across the Middle East in numerous local dialects. "This collection contains nearly 3 200 manuscripts. The digitalization of these documents will be a long-term activity, because of the big size of the collection. At the beginning have been selected earlier manuscripts and rarely seen works in different subjects: Kitab al-Yamini (OR K1) from al-Utbi (XI century) and Shakaik al-Numaniya - copy from the beginning of XI century (OR 801) - hadiths, Sharh al-Luma according to a grammar (OR 1863), Diwan of al-Mutanabbi (OR 2491) and Diwan Ibn Sabit (OR 2488) - poetry, Audah al-masalik (OR 2643) - geography, Miscellany of religious works (OR 492)."

"This collection includes nearly 120 manuscripts. The copies, selected for digitalization, are in the field of fiction: Timur-nama (OR 994), Ibtida-nama (OR 188), Baharistan (OR 1127) and Sunbulistan (OR 1868) and a work on astronomy – Zidj-i Yamini (OR 1750)."
