Open Access Manuscripts Collection: Manuscripts from the al-Aqsa Mosque Library, East Jerusalem

Manuscripts from the al-Aqsa Mosque Library, East Jerusalem

"The Endangered Archives Programme has recently made available the digitised
manuscripts from the Al-aqsa Mosque Library, East Jerusalem.
The materials selected for digitisation include a collection of 119 rare
manuscripts that span over several Islamic periods from the 12th to the 19th
century AD, constituting approximately 33000 pages. The selection includes
the manuscripts from the collections of well-known Palestinian scholars,
such as Fayd Allah al-'Alami and the Shaykh Khalil al-Khalidi and from the
private collection of Shaykh Muhammad al-Khalili, who died in 1734. The
manuscripts selected for digitisation cover a wide range of subjects,
including theology, Quran and its interpretation, Islamic law, Arabic
language and literature, astronomy, medicine and history. The collection
documents the history and cultural heritage of the region and its people."

RELMIN is a five-year project funded by the European Research Council and directed by John Tolan, professor of history at the University of Nantes.
Database in French and English.
"This is the pilot version of what will become a major text database of legal texts concerning the status of religious minorities in the Middle Ages. The base currently contains several hundred texts, but will gradually grow to several thousand texts by 2015."
"The database consists of original texts (Latin, Arabic, Greek, Hebrew, etc.), translations into English and French, notes and commentaries, and a bibliography. Open Access Journal: Dissertation Reviews

Dissertation Reviews
http://dissertationreviews.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/DissReviewsHeader1.jpg
Founded in 2010, Dissertation Reviews is a new site that features overviews of recently defended, unpublished doctoral dissertations in a wide variety of disciplines across the Humanities and Social Sciences. Our goal is to offer readers a glimpse of each discipline’s immediate present by focusing on the window of time between dissertation defense and first book publication.

Each review provides a summary of the author’s main arguments, the historiographic genealogy in which the author operates, and the main source bases for his or her research. The reviews are also anticipatory, making educated assessments of how the research will advance or challenge our understanding of major issues in the field when it is revised and published in the future.

Dissertation Reviews also features reviews of and guides to archives, libraries, databases, and other collections where such dissertation research was conducted, to help scholars improve their ability to undertake current and future research.
