A Bibliography of Armistice-Era Istanbul, 1918–1923, BIAA

"A Bibliography of Armistice-Era Istanbul, 1918–1923

With more than 1400 primary and secondary sources, this bibliography is the first comprehensive guide for the study of Istanbul during its occupation by British, French and Italian forces from 1918 to 1923. The book contributes to efforts to restore to prominence the history of the city during these years, which has been largely ignored by historians in the former occupying powers, and often marginalised in the Anatolia-focused history of the War of Independence in Turkey. Prefaced by an essay outlining changing public and academic perspectives on the occupied city, the bibliography features materials organised into seven categories including archives, contemporary publications, memoirs, articles, books, book chapters and theses. Compiled with the collaboration of diverse specialists in the history of the many resident communities of late Ottoman Istanbul, the bibliography provides guidance to sources available in a variety of languages, including Turkish, Armenian, Greek, Ladino, Arabic, French, Italian, English and Russian. This bibliography is an essential tool and reference work for historians, social scientists, and all those interested in modern Istanbul and its place within Turkish, Middle Eastern, European and imperial history. As an increasingly interested public mark the centenaries of events connected to the occupation and evacuation of the city, the book aims to facilitate further transnational and transcommunal work on this crucial period."

Arabian Nights Bibliography

Arabian Nights Bibliography compiled by Ulrich Marzolph.
"The present Bibliography aims to list a representative selection of research publications on the Arabian Nights (Alf Laylah wa-laylah, Les Mille et une Nuits, Tausendundeine Nacht etc.) published in European languages, while also including some important books and articles published in other languages. Initially being based on the bibliography in The Arabian Nights Encyclopedia (Marzolph and van Leeuwen 2004, 811–852), the present Bibliography bears witness to the renewed and continued interest in the Nights resulting from its tercentenary celebrations in 2004. Aiming to be comprehensive, but not necessarily exhaustive, the Bibliography at present lists more than 500 items. It is conceived as an ongoing project and will be updated at regular intervals. Most items quoted treat particular aspects of the Arabian Nights, with the exception of items discussing the scholars to whose endeavours we owe the most important European editions. Numerous publications bearing a secondary relevance for the study of the Nights have not been included. Also, editions of the Nights in international languages are not listed, while a number of them contain important essays on the history and character of the Nights. The compiler appreciates comments and critique as well as suggestions for items to be added.
As a further service to the scholarly community, we offer to supply scans of the items listed below, most of which are available here. In the future, we aim to link pdf-scans to specific items that are out of copyright."

A Bibliography  on Christianity in Palestine/Eretz-Israel

http://www.csc.org.il/images/logo_center.png
This ongoing bibliographical project was launched in the year 2000 on behalf of the Center for the Study of Christianity of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Its immediate purpose is to fill the evident gap in the set of bibliographical resources and provide a convenient and easily accessible tool for the worldwide scholarly community. The ultimate goal of the project, of which the results of only the first stage are now being made available, is to assemble as much bibliographical material as possible so that eventually a comprehensive bibliography on Christianity in Palestine will become available.     more about ...

Online Comprehensive Bibliography on Syriac Christianity

 Comprehensive Bibliography on Syriac Christianity
http://www.csc.org.il/images/logo_center.png
It was during the sixteenth century in Renaissance Europe that, as a result of the efforts of the Catholic and Protestant scholars of the New Testament, Syriac studies became a part of European intellectual life. Since then, the number of scholarly publications on various matters related to the history, culture and religious life of Syriac-speaking Christians has only increased. As these publications are in a variety of languages, and many of them scattered through journals and periodicals belonging to various academic fields, it is often difficult to obtain precise information on what has already been published on one or another aspect of Syriac Christianity. Our project aims to fill the evident gap in the bibliographical resources and provide a convenient and easily accessible tool for the worldwide scholarly community. The ultimate goal of this project is to create and launch an on-line database on Syriac Christianity that will be updated on a regular basis and available free of charge to the international scholarly community.     more about ...

Historians of the Ottoman Empire

Historians of the Ottoman Empire

"Initiated in the Fall of 2003, the project Historians of the Ottoman Empire aims at filling an extensive gap in the field of Ottoman Studies by offering scholars a major bio-bibliographical reference book on Ottoman historians.
In contrast to earlier similar projects in the field, Historians of the Ottoman Empire intends to comprise all the historians who have lived and produced within the geographical limits of the Ottoman Empire—regardless of the language in which they wrote. The reference book will thus cover works of history primarily in Turkish, but also in Arabic, Persian, Armenian, Greek, and other languages."

Bibliografía española sobre el Norte de África

"The work of the late Spanish Arabist, Rodolfo Gil Grimau, entitled “Bibliografía española sobre el Norte de África” has been recently published in Internet thanks to the sponsor of the Andalucian Government [Junta de Andalucía, Consejería de Obras Públicas y Vivienda] and in the way of a database. The link can be reached via http://www.juntadeandalucia.es/obraspublicasyvivienda/obraspublicasyvivienda/bibliografianorteafrica/01_00.jsp.

This work represents the largest bibliographic record ever compiled on North Africa and Al-Andalus, giving the publication a particular emphasis on the public works and the architecture developed by Spanish professionals in the neighbouring countries over the course of the 20th century.
The interface has been made in Spanish, French, English and Arabic. "
