"A joint project initiated by Salt and Kadir Has University in 2018, istanbulansiklopedisi.org offers access to the printed volumes of Reşad Ekrem Koçu’s Istanbul Encyclopedia and thousands of related documents. It brings together over 40,000 digitized documents, incorporating published encyclopedia articles and a body of archival material that forms the basis for subsequent volumes. Enabling an in-depth analysis of the archive, the online platform provides a basis to trace and explore the visual and textual connections between various sources. 

Blending common facts with unusual accounts, the Istanbul Encyclopedia —and the relevance of the knowledge it entails— is worthy of further scrutiny."

Encyclopédie berbère

 L’équipe de l'Encyclopédie berbère est heureuse de proposer, à travers ce site, un nouveau regard sur les 1283 notices qui la constituent actuellement.

Paru en 1984, le premier volume est le fruit d'un prototype, pensé dès 1970 par Gabriel Camps et son équipe. À cette époque, les grands axes de cet ambitieux projet éditorial étaient déjà programmés avec, pour objectif, l’idée de rassembler, de synthétiser et de répertorier un savoir sur le monde berbère jusque-là dispersé et fragmenté.

Aujourd’hui, soutenue par l'INALCO, l'IREMAM et l'AIBL, l’Encyclopédie berbère se dote d'un nouvel espace éditorial électronique. Le site permet de consulter toute la collection en PDF et, du volume 12 au volume 29, en texte intégral.

Une barrière mobile de cinq volumes a été fixée, en accord avec les Éditions Peeters qui assurent désormais la vente des exemplaires imprimés (les volumes 33 et 34, pour la lettre N, sont actuellement sous presse). Le traitement de la collection se poursuit afin que l'ensemble soit disponible en mode plein texte au début de l'année 2013. Enfin, un ultime travail de mise en relation des notices permettra de naviguer aisément au fil de cette collection, unique de par son objet et son angle d'approche pluridisciplinaire.

Encyclopedia of the Founders and Builders of Israel

The monumental 19-volume Encyclopedia of the Founders and Builders of Israel was compiled and published by David Tidhar (1897-1970) over the 23 years from 1947 until his death. His varied careers as British policeman, David Tidhar with his Encyclopedia private detective, author, and communal leader made Tidhar ideally suited to compile this Who’s Who of the Jewish community of the Land of Israel (Erets-Yisrael in Hebrew). In addition to original articles about political activists and other of his contemporaries, the first several volumes also contain material about 19th century settlers culled from local histories published in the preceding two decades. In each volume, Tidhar requested submission of biographical information and photographs from relatives of early settlers*, which he used to compile some 6,000 biographies. His work represents the only biographical source for many of those included. Though Tidhar is famously scant in providing sources, his Encyclopedia is itself widely cited, having become the preeminent source in this area. With the dissemination of this online version, Touro College in conjunction with the Tidhar family is proud to make this classic reference work freely available to the public...

Encyclopædia Iranica

Encyclopædia Iranica

The Encyclopædia Iranica is dedicated to the study of Iranian civilization in the Middle East, the Caucasus, Central Asia and the Indian Subcontinent.  The academic reference work will eventually cover all aspects of Iranian history and culture as well as all Iranian languages and literatures, facilitating the whole range of Iranian studies research from archeology to political sciences.

The Encyclopædia is an international, collaborative project, based at Columbia University in the City of New York. Its compilation is overseen by the general editor Ehsan Yarshater and a team of Consulting Editors, all internationally renowned scholars of Iranian studies, who assist in the commissioning and editing of entries. The in-house editorial staff works at Columbia's Center for Iranian Studies.  Entries are solicited through invitation only, and are subjected to peer review to ensure factual reliability, scholarly objectivity, and political independence. 

In recognition of its high academic achievements the Encyclopædia has received continuous financial support, since its inception in the 1970s, from major sponsors, such as the National Endowment for the Humanities.  The non-profit Encyclopaedia Iranica Foundation is dedicated to guaranteeing the Encyclopædia's intellectual independence by covering parts of its operating budget. 

The first fascicle of the Encyclopædia's printed edition appeared in 1982, while the first version of the web-based digital edition was established in 1996. This digital version was developed in 2009-2010, in collaboration with the web design company Electric Pulp, to provide a more user-friendly interface for accessing the Encyclopædia's online content.
